Mind the Gap by Philip25 Mind the Gap by Philip25
Hey Deviants,

Since my exams for this semester are nearly over I got some time to make a new spaceart again. The original resolution is 2160 x 3840 px on 600 dpi. I reused my X-Wing ships I made with Cinema4D a while ago. The Asteroids are also done with C4D ... I used Apophysis for some fractals and Photoshop for the whole rest. As always I used a satellite photo from the NASA website for the Planettexture ... The rest is completely done by myself ...

Tell me if you got that "mind the gap", which was the purpose of making this spaceart ^^

Please note, that you are free to use it as a wallpaper (pm me and i will send you a bigger flipped version) or any noneprofit use only. You are not allowed to alter, customize, trace, or in any way modify this image without direct permission from me.

Tell me what you think!

Also, if you have any critiques please let me know! I'd love to hear what you have to say.
:D

Have a nice day and remember ... mind the gap!

note: I changed the planet since a lot of people critisized the old one and I wasnt happy about the looks of the Planet either!

This is so far my most favorite of your works. It conveys all the beauty, excitement and wonder that can be found in the universe and the overall composition moves the eyes from the bottom upwards and creates the same "wow" moment the guys in the space ships will have once they're past the asteroids. Great job.

this is waaaaaaaay to stunning in many aspects! I like how this picture seems to be very real as it has amazing details. The green cloud of gas between the asteroids is a bit to sharp though, but damn, it is the universe we're talking about. How knows how it would really looks like out there. :D

I'd give you 9,8/10. Why not 10/10? Because you forgot to make a tutorial. :P

Danke dir!

Very nice job with the colors, and a unique point of view too. Like others, the only thing that would make this piece even better is a bit of variation in the texture of the planet. But otherwise, it's really lovely.

My only critique is that the planet looks a little flat... but otherwise - :squee:

O.o

I love the colors and the detail of the star field! The only thing that needs improvement is the planet. If it had clouds, it would be perfect!

Great choice of colors! I really dig the green shades in there :)

The planet could maybe use a little more details such as clouds. Just to break the monotony of flat surfaces ;)

Very nice! I was going to say the planet looks flat but then realized it looks ok for the rest of the piece so I'm guessing u've done a great job and it's hard to make a perfect space scene... you even did add ships which looks great too :)

Thanks for your comment! Well I placed the texture for the planet on a 3D orb and rendered it ... made some adjustments in photoshop and tried something different this time (I am allways trying new ways to improve my art over time) But I see what you mean and I didnt realize it that it looks kinda flat even though its in 3D ... I might update the picture in the next few days :) glad you told me!

no it's ok because probably from the texture itself that it just looks simple :)
